What Does Taking Your Mental Health Temperature Mean?
When a family member, student, or friend isn't feeling well physically, you might suggest or take their temperature—a quick and helpful way to determine if their body is possibly compromised by illness. But why don’t we take our mental health temperature when we’re feeling emotionally unwell?
At Walt’s Waltz, we believe that checking in on your mental health is just as important as monitoring your physical health. A mental health screening from Mental Health America (MHA) is a simple yet powerful tool to assess your emotional well-being. While not a diagnostic tool, these screenings can help identify potential concerns, provide resources, and guide you toward seeking professional support when needed.
I continue to stress that if you are in a crisis or not sure, to call 988. I was the last person with my son. He died 45 minutes after I left. I personally share this because, I want to stress that it is best to call 988 if there is a concern. I can’t go back. I can only try my best to get information out to our community. I am a mom who wants you to please call 988, see your doctor when you are not feeling well, look out for others, get certified in Mental Health First Aid. We are community and everyone needs help sometimes. Help us end stigma, reduce suffering, and empower those with mental health disorders.
You may even save a life.
